Somehow I'm having trouble getting Word to connect with SharePoint as a blog service. Though this could be a security issue, running Word from Windows XP not in the same (or any trusted) domain as the Windows Server 2003 with WSS. Does anyone have some experiences with that scenario?
Not that I want to go for Word as my default editor. I'd like to use Windows Live Writer, because of it's great trackback management features. However, if I can't get it to work with Word 2007, WLW is even more of a challenge as I can't rule out security on top of all the other settings that might be needed for the provider settings in BlogProvidersB2.xml.
WLW also brings up disadvantage of WSS, it doesn't do trackbacks OOB and you're also limited to one category per post. I'm sure this can be fixed by writing/finding webpart that solve this issue, still more to be done.
Another issue I came along is anonymous access to the SharePoint sites, which is hidden pretty well in Windows SharePoint services. However, Ted Pattison has some good screencasts, like the one I initially found on Channel9. It shows not only how to configure this, but also how to change your authentication model, should you need this.
